1 day / Explore Ahka tribe

DESCRIPTIOND

You are short of time or want to discover the Akha culture without walking too much? 30 min by bus or private tuktuk, 1 hour walking and you find yourself in another world.

ITINERARYI

The Akha originally settle in the Kuaichao and Yunan, which are provinces of China. After moving down to the southern part of Yunan, they later moved to Va and Xiengtung districts of Burma, and then to Lai Chao district of Vietnam. Only later did they settle in the mountainous areas in northern Laos during the last 200 years.

DAY 01
JUNGLE TREK TO EXPLORE NATURE AND ETHNIC TRIBES

After a short break in the village, Akha Puxo women will lead you to their fields and show you how to gather vegetables for lunch.  Back in the village, you cook them together. This also gives you the chance to discover an Akha house and its kitchen. After lunch, a 5 min walk brings you to the ritual swing in the spirit forest, a specificity of Akha villages. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the traditions and culture of the Akha Puxo. You will be able to admire the beautiful handcraft and clothes crafted by the Akha Puxo, such as the self-crafted indigo colored traditional dress worn by married women. In the afternoon, we will walk on the trail leading you back to the road. The bus or private TukTuk will then take you back to your hotel.
