1 DAY \ 4000 ISLANDS SIGHTSEEING

Itinerary

A day sightseeing tour takes us to the 4000 Islands in the southern trip of Laos. First We visit the French Colonial Bridge at Don Det Island, the Somphamith gorge of Don Kone Island, and visit Irrawaddy dolphin statue, and the amazing Khonphapheg Waterfall.

Trip Overview

We leave Pakse to a small village where we board a boat passing Don Det. To Don Khon islands. We start cycling around the island to visit the old bridge and river embankment, both built during the colonial French period. We can relax and spend some time watching local fishermen on the Mekong river, while we learn about the role that fishing plays in Lao culture. We then ride to the thundering Somphamith Waterfall and stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon we travel by boat to see the Irrawaddy dolphin statue. Along the way we will pass by the rainforest area. Another short boat trip brings us to a small border town, where we will find our van waiting to take us to the amazing waterfall of Khonephapheng. From here we will return to Pakse, or you can request to be dropped off at the Lao/Cambodian border.

This is mostly a sightseeing tour, however expect a small amount of cycling on a flat but slightly bumpy road.
